Colin Booth Early Keyboard Instruments

Italy

The construction of Italian and many German harpsichords is closely related. It makes sense for a maker to work in these two fields. Italian instruments were used more widely throughout Europe, from the 16th to the 18th centuries, than those of any other tradition. Supremely practical, and perfect continuo instruments, they are also ideal for much solo music. Their clear, unfussy tone often has a long sustain and a bell-like clarity.

Colin Booth offers single-strung and double-strung Italian harpsichords and an Italian virginals. He also makes German instruments.
